Boiler Plant Upgrade, Hogan Regional Center, Danvers, MA

The project scope includes replacement of existing oil fuel fired boiler plant to Central Boiler Plant using natural gas or Biomass fuel. AKAL had performed a detail feasibility and life analysis of various renewal energy options including Biomass Boiler plant. Detail analysis of 400 BHP wood chip fired boiler was performed and investigated its feasibility to provide 12000 lbs/hr steam to 350,000 S.F Hogan Regional facility.

Ely Library-Westfield State College, MA

AKAL upgraded the existing Cooling Plant and existing HVAC systems at the Ely Library. Project involved replacement of existing 200 ton chiller and cooling tower with more efficient equipment. In Phase II, AKAL designed HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection for the new Central Core, Theater and existing library space.

Maxwell Library, Bridgewater State College, MA, Large Auditorium at Maxwell Library building was renovated to lecture halls and classroom. AKAL was responsible for designing a Fire Protection System for this fast track 5,000 SF renovation construction

AKAL has performed building enevelope studies on various existing courthouse facilities. Currently working on following courthouses :

Norris Cotton Boiler Replacement, Manchester, NH

General Service Administration (GSA) wanted to have a turnkey project for the boiler plant replacement at their facility. AKAL teamed up with design build contractor to replace their inefficient boilers in the facility with high efficiency condensing boilers. Associated components such boiler pump, expansion tank, air separator were also replaced. In addition boiler control was provided for their ability to lead lag/ cascade, outdoor reset schedule as aggressive as possible to achieve the lowest permissible water temperature and appreciate the highest possible efficiencies of the boilers while maintaining the comfort level of the building. 

Wyatt Detention Center, Central Falls, RI

Principal of AKAL was involed in the design of HVAC system while representing the

other firm.  The project is a expansion of 128,000 SF, 300 new cells to this existing detention center and 9,500 s.f. training center. Each Inmate unit wing was provided with multizone air handiling unit and heat recovery system. AKAL provided a construction administration to the mechanical system
